In recent years, with the increase in exchange of visits and people-to-people exchanges between the leaders of China and the Philippines, Sino-Philippine economic and trade relations have developed at a relatively fast pace, and bilateral import and export trade has grown particularly rapidly. Among the products exported from China to the Philippines, building materials and mechanical and electrical products accounted for more than 50%. Local building materials are imported in large quantities from China.
